Many thanks to all the organizations and associations that agreed to help the Disabilities Issues Office reach their networks with the attached May 1st announcement of the Accessibility Standard for Employment, and its one-year deadline affecting employee safety.  In response to requests, the Disabilities Issues Office is pleased to provide this information in other formats:

Your Opinion Matters.  Please let us know your views about future accessibility laws:  The Accessibility Advisory Council is inviting feedback and holding a public forum on Tuesday, May 14th at the Viscount Gort Hotel in Winnipeg.  Please register to attend:

Save the date!  The first week in June is Manitoba Access Awareness Week.  Celebrate by registering for a free learning event on June 4th on “How and Why to Support Accessible Employment,” featuring:

  • Keynote address by Ms. Maureen Haan, Executive Director of the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work
  • Overview of the Accessibility Standard for Employment
  • Panel discussion on accessibility in emergency planning
