Farewell from Retiring CEO
After 16 years with MCCA, I am not sure I have processed the reality of not coming in to the office next Monday morning!
Luckily, I will be on vacation next week, or I am sure I would wander about wondering if I should phone the office to see if they needed me for something, or ask if I remembered to pass along all pertinent information about MCCA and work I was finishing up for year end.
I will say, I am very pleased with the Board’s appointment Mr. Bruce Rose, as Executive Director. After spending considerable time with him over the past few weeks, I truly believe he will do great things at MCCA. His eagerness and enthusiasm are assuring and his past experiences mirror many MCCA opportunities. I encourage all MCCA members to take time to call or meet Bruce in the coming days, weeks and months ahead.
Although my decision to retire in 2015 has been planned for some time, it was only four months ago I made the final decision to leave at the end of March, the end of our fiscal year. This timing seemed to make most sense in terms of someone new taking over at the beginning of MCCA’s fiscal year and annual cycle.
I know I will miss so many of you, especially those I have come to know on a more personal level through our work together on committees, projects, meetings, or events over the years. I have always thought of myself as a people person, so daily contact with many of you will be what I miss the most.
I do plan to attend the MCCA AGM and MCCA Board and staff are also planning a retirement and farewell for me, so I look forward to the opportunity to see you all again, to reminisce and say a more formal and prepared goodbye. MCCA has been a wonderful opportunity for me and I have truly enjoyed the time we have worked together. MCCA and its’ members will always hold a special place in my heart.
Until we meet again,
